Professional Background

Matthew (Matt) Hughey, a manager at Gleason & Associates, joined the firm in April 2007 and provides project management and analysis for litigation support and business valuation engagements. Since joining the firm, Matt has worked extensively on intellectual property infringement matters, analyzing and quantifying damages due to breach of contract and shareholder disputes, and assessing solvency in bankruptcy cases.

Prior to joining Gleason & Associates, Matt worked as a manager in the Assurance and Enterprise Risk Services department of Deloitte & Touche LLP. During that time, Matt served numerous clients in various industries ranging in size from small, privately held companies to SEC registered, multi-national, Fortune 500 companies with revenues greater than $10 billion. Matt has substantial experience with public and private companies in a broad range of industries including manufacturing, land development, professional sports, and others. His experiences in these areas include audit and assurance services associated with financial statements and internal control over financial reporting, acquisitions, management and review of SEC filing requirements and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, accounting research, and agreed upon procedures work. Matt has also been an instructor at many local continuing education trainings related to various technical accounting and auditing areas.

Matt's experience with analyzing financial statements, evaluating internal controls, and identifying risk areas in financial statements are valuable in assisting in the discovery and damages calculation stages of litigation support cases. Additionally, Matt's review of valuations while auditing both acquisitions and potential goodwill impairment is helpful in valuation engagements involving projections of future cash flows.
