Case Studies - Oil and Gas Valuation Case Study A Engagement The client is primarily engaged in the exploration, drilling, development, and operations of oil and gas wells in northern Pennsylvania. Its affiliate markets the natural gas produced from its wells to stripping plants and industrial end-users. Gleason's Role Gleason & Associates was engaged by the client to provide an estimate of the fair market value of both of the companies' common stock on a minority, non-marketable basis. The analysis was to be used by the companies to assist the owners and management with the potential buyout of their minority shareholders. Results Gleason & Associates determined the fair market value of the common stock of the parent company and its affiliate on a non-controlling, non-marketable basis. The valuation assisted the owners and management with estate and tax planning strategies and information used to purchase minority shares. Case Study B Engagement The client is a wholesaler of refined petroleum products to industrial, commercial, governmental and retail end users and resellers and is involved in the distribution of branded and unbranded petroleum products for major oil companies. Gleason's Role Gleason & Associates was retained to estimate the fair value of a 20% common stock interest in the company on a non-controlling, non-marketable basis. Results Gleason & Associate's valuation report was used for transaction pricing purposes.
